Today we had a chance to hear from the new NASA adminstrator, Major General Charles Bolden, as he addressed the troops at JSC. This man clearly has a very challenging job ahead of him. I sure like a lot of the things he says. It’s clear that he’s passionate about space, human exploration, and the United States’ roll in the two. It sounds like he sees the “gap” between Shuttle and Orion/Constellation as something that should be minimized, which hopefully means extending Shuttle at least a year, perhaps two.
While a confessed “hugger,” I’m hopeful that this proud marine and former astronaut will be a strong leader and advocate for NASA and the United States’ space plans and policies.
Go, Charlie!
emBOLDENing NASA? Let’s hope!
